Good luck. I won't bash Chevy's just because I'm a Ford fan/owner. I will say that if you want 33" tires you need a lot of lift. Lately the only way to tell a 4X4 Silverado is looking for a sticker on the side of the bed. My sister's 06 HD Chevy has a 4" lift and she still had to trim to fit a 285. My Super Duty fits 305's with no trimming and no lift.
The 7.3 PSD was a legendary unit, but the truck as a whole (besides the engine) has been nicely upgraded by Ford over the years.
The steering (feel & turn radius), brakes, transmission, chassis, and quality of the interior is vastly improved in the newer models. The stock 7.3 was no fireball either, anvil reliable - "yes," smokin' power - "no." My '08 "weak" 5.4 feels like a Porsche next to my work 7.3 PSD (only 25k miles on it).
Good Luck with the Chevrolet, now that Toyota has cut Tundra prices (the local dealer has V-8 quad cab 4WD's for $27k), at least you bought a U.S. nameplate....
Congratulations on your new ride it's a fine truck I have owned Chevy's I'm sure it will handle everything you need, I totally agree with you about the new Ford diesel I'm waiting two years myself to see how everything goes before I step up to the new engine ;-). I'm just curious why you skipped the F150 is it the styling you didn't care for? well anyway enjoy your new ride and maybe we'll see you again in a few years take care
When my wife is ready for another vehicle we will either be looking at a suburban or an expy. Get what you like and ignore the armpits of this website with their childish immature comments. The truth of the matter is that they all make nice cars and trucks and they are all reliable regardless of the frivolous bull that has plagued your thread.
I had a few Diesel GMC I would say the 2016 LML was the best year , I bought a 2019 Duramax 3500 SRW , best thing about that truck was the real Allison transmission , I had a lot of DEF problems with the 2019 , I made money on that truck after driving it for 3yrs I still got 18k more than I paid for that truck .
I would say it had to have been built with parts from the cheapest supplier , stuff , feel off , rattled , glue … the wiring harness adhesive tabs were coming off the frame the day I bought the truck .
The rear GOV lock differential had to be replaced at 9k had un controllable chatter and would lock up .
I had a buddy who leased GM truck in 2020 was back to the dealer no less than 30 times … it was junk .
Not to say ford or any other does not have problems , I would not buy a GM product .
