My 2009 SD didn't come with UPFITTER switches so I bought a set off e-Bay. Have everything hook up but I can seem to figure out how you get the center cover off your dash. I need to either remove it or loosen it enough to run the wire up to the switches. It's a very tight fit with no way of getting a hand behind the dash so I figured someone has to have done this b4.
As a matter of fact I'm not even sure if that's the correct name, but it the fake wood piece of trim that goes around your radio and temp controls, etc.
Your help is much appreciated.
Also, installed my aftermaket rims and tires yesterday, and low and behold the TPMS light came on. Ive read a ton of post on here, most related to 2008 SD's but has anything changed since. Looking for a way to disable till winter when the factory 20's go back on.
Its scary every time you do it but take a screwdriver and put a rag over the tip (no scratches), stick it in the space between the bezel cover and the rest of the dash. Pry it out enough to get your fingers in there. I suggest about shoulder width apart and pull. And you have to pull pretty hard. sometimes the shifter gets in the way so I do it with the key on and it in low (set your parking brake)
If you want to remove the center cover, there are two bolts holding it on at the bottom. Remove the covers to whatever you have at the bottom (should be the ash tray on the left and either a blank panel or mine has the Aux plug on the right). Those panels just pop off. Remove the two bolts behind those panels, and you will be able to grab the entire center cover and lift up while pulling out (carefully!). The panel is held in by slanted "tabs" that insert into the dash. Once you have a couple at towards the bottom started, you can grab one side or the other and CAREFULLY! pull up and out, working each side. It will eventually all come out. Just work slowly and CAREFULLY!
