code# found with my Microtuner, Help please

This thread had a bleed over post from the old forums. I replied to it twice this morning and then tried to remove the "RE: Blowing Fuses, Help!" bleed over post and it wiped the whole thread (not my intention). You can ask again if you need to and perhaps all the respondents can try to reconstruction their responses... ?

OK

Depending on the year of the truck the P 603 and the P605 are memory codes directly related to the install of a chip This is what the dealerships look for when they hook up to the NGS or there computers, To tell them you have a chip in your truck. This has been the biggest issue with Ford over warranty when they see these codes your chances of keeping your warranty is slim to none, If you open your owners book that is inside your glove box I think on the first couple of pages it will tell you about performance enhancements and what Ford is willing and not willing to do under warranty.
There is on maybe 2 chip manufactures on the market that will not throw these codes and I can tell you superchip is not one of them. Nothing again them they have a great product
Just some food for thought

I have the same code after programming my 1999 PSD. If I restore the factory program, will the code be cleared?

If not, what do you do to clear the codes?

In some cases yes it will other times no
As the Webmaster said earlier before this thread was lost you can disconnect the batteries but keep in mind when you hook up your batteries again a sure sign that the codes are still there is to check your radio, (If you have programed you fav stations on your radio and the recall is still there your codes will be too),
Some times it will take 24hour to clear codes these systems are closed curcit systems.
Other then that you can use a Snapon Scan tool to remove them and some where I found software on the net that will remove them too but I'll have to screach my records on where I found that, you can down load it into a Lab Top and them just get the right cable to your data link port and you are all set up

I've found that if you do something like hold the brake pedal down for several minutes with the battery disconnected it'll do the job. One sure fire method is to disconnect the battery and turn on the headlight switch for 20 minutes. The Microtuner can read and clear the 603 and 605 codes.

Autotap will do the trick as well. There are some tools for Palm handhelds that will do it but I haven't personally used one.

I was starting to look into making something similar to the Tweecer for the Powerstroke but with the PTEC out its a waste of my time... *sigh*

Oh.... a sure fire way to insure there are never any codes is to get a spare computer from a salvage yard! (The problem with that is nearly 99% of the Powerstrokes made are still on the road.)
