battery light?

so, miss trouble has decided my reprieve is over...she is tired of behaving nicely. i was kinda enjoying the 3+ month run with zero issues beyond not having enough money for fuel : P

my battery light has started coming on while driving- specifically when i put the brakes on. it goes away (flickers and fades out) when i accelerate. her batteries are less than 6 months old. new starter as well. the battery gauge shows a strong charge once the glow plugs go off.

so...alternator?

and on a tangent...how do i replace the light bulb behind the tach and speedo? it's been out long enough i gotta stop griping about it and just fix the damn thing lol...once i hit od i'm only guessing at my speed in the dark!

you gotta pull the dash cluster out to change the bulbs.

I can explain it to you over the phone easier.

you need a t-15 driver, or some small socket size i cannot recall at the moment.

Try checking the plug on the top of the alternator. They have a habit of rubbing the coating off of the wires

Dash lights

Can be a PITA... have to pull the instrument cluster. Replace all the bulbs, and do any wiring back there while you're at it.

The two tricky parts are getting the **** off the main light switch and, for autos, pulling the gear indicator cable off the little stud on the needle mechanism.

The first screws to come out are hidden behind the little trim bars on the dash panel. The trim bars pry out fairly easily. After that, it's reasonably obvious, if tedious.
