What is shown in the picture that Rupe posted earlier is the glow plug controller. The controller has a built in relay on it so that is the complete controller assembly.

The light coating of oil is normal. Diesels have a system similar to a PCV system on a gasser, and small amounts of oil vapor ingested by the intake is a simple fact of life. Nothing to worry about unless you start seeing large amounts of oil consumption.
yes where is the crank case ventilation on this truck, on the 6.0 it was right on the right valve cover I'm not farmiliar with pcv, but that aside, this is what I just did I took multimeter and tried testing the top two prongs of the relay truck was off I'm not sure if it matters but the one to the right read same as my battery voltage but the left one read zero I had it set to AC volts positve on battery ground on relay, does this mean I need a new relay and controller?

OH also I forgot about this, I tried to lift the caps off of the glow plugs I only gave them a tiny tug and it wouldnt come off so I got scared and left it alone, I read about people who tried moving them and lifting them out, etc. and they broke and fell into the head? is this possible, because otherwise I don't know how to grab em, should I just go hercules and see our end result?

Re the intake oil..... if it is dripping off the hold down bolt then check/clean the CDR valve.... I will PM you some info and my email addy so I can send pics ect if you respond. The GP wire end covers are plastic they will crack and fall off..... "not into the head" You can get heat shrink tubing and replace the plastic with 2 coats..... leaving a slight amount beyond the tip......

If there is no reason to remove them leave them ......... However if you need to test the GPs pull on the end only not the wire.

Disconnecting the wires from the glow plugs can hurt nothing but the harness or maybe glow plug terminals.

I assume the '93 in your sig, it has the bullet connectors and they just pull off.

What you are worried about happens when the wrong glow plugs (other than Motorcraft/Beru) are used, sometimes the tips swell and break off falling into the cylinders.
