Hey guys, new to the forums here so I hope im posting this in the right area. I have a 1986 3/4ton Ford F250 4x4. As of yesterday the truck started dumping out power steering fluid. I have narrowed it down, and the fluid is coming out of the bottom of the Steering Gear box. I was told that just replacing the o-ring inside of it is a pain and is almost guarenteed to start leaking again. Its easier to just get a new gear box but alot more $$ obviously. A friend of mine has a Steering Gear Box off of a 86/87 F250 3/4 Ton but it is only 2 Wheel Drive. So my question to you guys is Will this Gear box fit on my truck and work properly?
Thanks for the reply. Im 100% sure its not the hoses or lines. I wiped everything down and im getting no leakes at any of the hoses/lines or where they connect at and the reservoir is also completely dry around it. Seems to be dumping out of the bottom of the gear box. Yesterday I had to fill up the PS fluid 3 times, so its leaking pretty bad. I wasn't sure if his Gear Box would work being that its a 2 wheel drive and mines 4 wheel drive. This is really just a temporary fix until i can buy a new one. I just have to make sure that the 2wd one will fit on the 4wd before I start removing them.
