The only person i put in danger was me.....I wasn't being reckless. the stretch of road cuts through open crop land with nothing on it. very flat. no trees for an animal to pop out from....zero cross roads for 3 miles.....

I was testing my high speed balance which had just been balanced by my dealer....I was getting a wobble at about 80mph. I know I'm "crazy" but I do drive 80 almost everyday....as a matter of fact....80 is the flow of traffic on most freeways here in michigan.

I've had mine up to about 85 with the flow of traffic and it was nice an smooth. Now running 65 when the traffic is running at 75-80, thats reckless. :-)

I could get most old clunkers over a hundred. That means nothing. Blow a tire, have a deer run out, etc. That's when things change. Lets see you handle that at 120 in your truck 'like a champ'.

age has nothing to do with it.

it's all about responsibility and lack of stupidity. There is a time and a place for things. A SUV or Truck and most cars have no business traveling at those speeds on the road. Isolated area or congested area.

BTW, I'm 27

Do police officers take their expy's over 100, you betcha

Is there increased risk of rollover or accident as speeds increase, you betcha

Have people had gnarly accidents from a blow out, things jumping out at you, or sudden maneuver at 80+, sure, happens all the time - In my case I caught a full tread blow out from a semi - I was doing 70 (the speed limit, down in KC on I-35) It got caught up under my older lowered car and lifted the rear end; ending up sending me into a crazy slide off the interstate and flipping through the air (I have a pic of the aftermath, but that may be for another thread)

Have most of us taken a car or truck up way faster than we should have, probably

Have you seen the aftermath of a illegal road race that went wrong? For that matter have you been part of an illegal road race?

In the end it the user was just sharing an experience, if you wish to express you opinion and say its dumb, stupid, whatever that's fine. .. but we have all done stupid things, and we aren't peoples mothers and fathers on here. While maybe you are trying to protect others on the road by changing a mind about speeding, likely you are not going to. It isn't worth anyone's time arguing about this, everyone has different opinions and while e-fights are entertaining to watch I would prefer everyone continues to work well together to have a constructive forum. . .I have seen too many forums self implode because of silly fights.

No need to fight about anything. You post something here you WILL get member's opinions. It's that simple. You won't like some, you will agree with others. I give my 2 cents because that's what these boards are for. If someone chooses to think about what I say or ignore it completely, it doesn't matter to me.

Its not like he posted "hey, how do you like this mod"

He asked a retarded question that promotes stupidity. Boasting how fast you have gone is dumb. I react the same way on the Mustang forums.

Hell, he enticed someone to say 100+ on 37" tires was smooth. I've been 140+ mph and that isnt a pleasant or smooth ride. Its f'ing scary.

Not dissagreeing it was a silly thing to brag about. . let me tell you at 110 a 91 deville got scary loose in the front end. Was I 17, yes, stupid, yes. .. .

My only point being is continuing to badger the crap out of someone isn't helping the forum at all.

Yesterday while driving an extended route for work, on a two lane road that is isolated. I came upon a horrific accident and I had the remorseful honor of watching the fire department and police do their jobs.

An suv driving at a high rate of speed had lost control and slammed into a tree. Killing the driver, passenger and dog. I found out that the Suv lost control when a kid/teenager on bike crossed the road. To avoid hitting the kid the driver swerved and lost control.

It's ironic to save one life you ended up losing two lives and a pet.

Yes our suvs are wonderful. They can go 100+.......The question is ...... do really need to?

"Brown stuff" happens all the time regardless of intelligence or lack thereof. We've all done stupid things and until we're lying in the ground or on the mantle than we'll all continue to do stupid things. My advice is to go out and live. Be as safe as possible and never try to hurt anyone. That's not always going to happen but if you try and keep that in mind than you usually won't do something stupid that hurts someone else.

Sometimes stupid hurts, sometimes it doesn't. I consider myself somewhat of an authority on stupid. I get to see LOTS of it and in 98% of the stupid I see, it's the kind that hurts. Funny thing is, none of us would do stupid things once in awhile if those particular things didn't intially begin with...

"Hey this might be fun....."

And that's life right there.

It might be to scary to you....but not me....people are different. Getting Lectured on an expedition forum isn't going to change me. I suppose I'm going to blamed for the accident described above too? I enticed someone to say that 100+ was smooth; are you kidding me???? From now on I will never ask about anyone's experiences while driving an expedition. I will keep my coversations strictly about mods.

To the forum:
Maybe this forum has gone over the top. Calling people dumb or retarded does not help a forum discussion.

To the original poster:
You did ask a question that would get a mixed bag of results. All forums are going to be very opinionated. In a way its good to see how people feel about a subject, so please continue to ask questions.
So how do you like the Expy overall?

Hello, Thanks for your input....I didn't post the question to brag or boost; although, I can see how it looks that way. I was merely testing my balance on a secluded road in a very safe manner and was surprised at how nice it rode, even at 100. If I was pushing it to see how fast it could go I wouldn't have stopped at 100. Anyway, you're correct, forums are for opinions. As far as my new ride, it is a nice vehicle. Still getting used to it coming from a 07 silverado that I think was an awesome build. The 20" inch wheels provide a much rougher ride that I'm not used too. I like a cushioned feel under me, and the roads in MI are terrible. Also, the transmission isn't as smooth as the the silverado but I do understand the expy is very heavy and often used for towing(which I don't do). As a matter of fact its just me and my little wife that ever even ride in the beast. Overall, I like it and plan on taking care of it for a long time.
