Fabric paint?

I just got a green 92 f150 single cab. The XLT lariat I think. It's got grey interior right now. I'm lookin to paint the truck soon, and was wonderin about a new interior. I was messin around on google and saw that their is interior fabric paint, anyone have experience with this? I was also wonderin bout the interior plastic paint or whatever, is it any count? Or should I be lookin to buy a new dash and door panels? If that's the case, does anyone have any idea on what years have that same interior style?

Sorry for all the questions, ready to start workin on the new toy.
Thanks in advance for any answers.

Take care,
Jake

If it has the gray interior, why change it? That and the tan are the best colors on our trucks anyway.

I don't recommend changing interior colors by painting, dying etc. It may or may not look good when your done, but it usually won't take long for it to wear off and look bad.

The gray ain't bad, but for the way I'm wantin the truck to look when done I think the red would look real good. I was wonderin bout how long it would last. So it'd probably be best to look for a red interior? Any ideas other than junk yards on where I can find the door panels and dash? And what years have the same interior model? Once again, sorry for the questions, but I appreciate the reply.
Thanks,
Jake

Thats odd, most people go the opposite direction. They have red and want gray or tan. I wouldn't change it. If you want it red, I would replace the panels. You might be able to find someone here on FTE that would trade you interiors.

I'd recommend buying the panels, dash pad, and carpet too if you want to change that as well. You don't necessarily have to buy new- try going to your local junk yards and seeing if you can find anything worth while. But if you really want to buy new, LMC is a good source for everything you should need.

As for the seat, I recommend just buying a cover in the color you want.

I have used fabric paint to try to refurbish the cloth seats in my old Miata. I used black paint to match the black seats which were faded and worn. I had mixed results at best. I would not even try to change the color. It barely worked with the original color, I would hate to see what happens if I actually tried to change colors. I predict a disaster, if you want to try this, I suggest you find and old seat from a junker and try changing the color in it before you ruin your car's interior.

i worked as a detailer in another life and the fabric spray can stuff was last resort. 95% of the time we were using it on the carpeted floorboards to cover up wear spots or to cover unclean able stains.
from what i remember it was kind of pricey so the manager told us just to use black $.99 spray paint in lieu of black fabric spray paint.
The stuff works ok, when used as intended, but I would not try to change an interior color using it.
