Ya know, I go to have my front tires replaced to a big box tire shop cuz they give me a great price, and what happens. They gouge BOTH of my shiny, forged dually wheels. (you think he would have learned after the first one!) You know, I know accidents happen, but for the tire tech to DO it, and then NOT say anything is just about enough to make my head BLOW OFF!!!!
Just complaining though. At least they said they will replace them. I am still waiting for the call to tell me they are in.
I have found that, many times, these chain stores tend to have young, underpaid, non-vehicle-loving people working who aren't particularly careful with your vehicle (which is why I am desperately afraid to have one of these stores do something as simple as change my oil). I went to a chain store for my current tires, thinking they could do an alignment too...apparently they don't get many SD's, because their lift couldn't reach my frame (wtf, I'm not even lifted), and my extended cab SHORT BOX was too long to fit on their alignment rack. SERIOUSLY? I should have went elsewhere right then, but the price was right so I took the painfully long 2 hours to watch them change my tires with a floor jack.
Needless to say, I actually prefer local shops as they tend to actually hire decent people and have decent equipment.
