When I got my truck I found this bracket in the tool tray and I can't figure out where it belongs. It is approx. 4 1/4" long and 1" wide, and is bent 45 degrees as if it fits in a corner or attaches 2 panels at 90 degrees. Any ideas?
That is a seat frame bracket . It connects to the lower front inside of the seat frame slider and the other end attaches to the floor . Look for the holes .
Look at the bottom right on the seat base slider . It is hard to see for the small brace is in a shadow but it is there .
Brad , there are two of them .This seat had only one with it , Checked the other seat and it has 2 .Check your seat location in the truck and you will see where each attaches .The seat in the pic is an extra . The one being used for the stock truck build is in much better shape If you need another seat brace let me know and I will pick one up one the parts safari . Later , Denny
Well I am missing the second bracket (I'll have to go "shopping" at the wrecker again) but more importantly I don't have the holes in the seat frame to bolt it to. Later model seat maybe? Got any pictures of the seat frame you could post so I can compare?
Wow Denny, that's a good looking seat. If you were to throw a mexican or indian blanket on top of that to protect it you'd be good to go!
Juile , have an 1890's carriage blanket from my Grandmother with a lion on it that would look way cool !! The other seat frame and back have gone thru the resto process and are ready for upholstery . The furniture repair , resto and refinish work has been plentiful so truck time has been scarce . Scored another Magic Air heater ( a '51 ) with control cables . Am picking up 2 more ( '52's ) and a '52 fesh air tube thur.
Brad , the seat frame in the pic is from a '49 .It only has one brace on the drivers side . The '52 seat frame for the stock truck has a brace on each side . Keep an eye open for any Magic Air heaters & fresh air tubes .Later , Denny
Thanks Denny, I will have to check some local sources for different seat frames, mine does not have a hole on either side. Now I am wondering if I have the correct seat. It looks like it should be, maybe the mounting frames are different, I guess I could just drill holes. Also I have noticed that since I installed the arm rests the seat hits them when you flip it forward, I have to open both doors to get behind the seat. Maybe that should be a clue, anyone else have that problem?
Here's some more info on my seat, hopefully someone can tell me what I have. The seat back is approx. 20.5" tall, 52" wide, and 6" thick. The seat bottom is approx. 9" tall at the front, 52" wide, and 20" deep. Can't see any holes for the angle bracket, and the arm rests are repro. could they be the problem with the seat back interference?
Here's mine; looks a little different than your seat, but I can't see the back part of yours. You can see the bolt for the bracket in one pic and the bracket (not bolted down!) in the next.
Thanks Ross, looks really similar, I don't have the holes and my adjuster handle looks a bit different. Given how close it is I may just drill the holes for the brackets. Do you have arm rests? If so does the seat back hit them when tilted forward?
No armrests, mine is a Standard Cab. I'd bet the seat would hit them tho, I've been meaning to add armrests but now I'll check before going to the trouble.
check the right hand side of the seat, maybe the holes are there on yours.
Nope, no holes either side. Maybe I have a newer style seat that didn't use them, bolts right in the truck though. As for the arm rests, with one door open you can get the seat just far enough to grab something small from the tool tray. Open both and no problem. I like having arm rests, but they are really in a strange spot, not a natural place to rest ones arm.
