I ordered a bug shiled for my truck and Im going to pick it up today. I havent seen many on the new body style. I was wondering if anyone has had any issues with theirs like wind noise and what not. I ordered the dark smoke color because it'll match the black grille and my window rain guards.
Ive never had one of these before and was a little leery about getting one, thinking that if I ever wanted to take it off it may rub the paint away underneith.
full hood and its Lund brand, I believe. I ordered it from a local car and truck accessories place Ive done buisness with before. They had to order it for me and it'll be in today. It was $80.
When I got the truck I looked at the Lund brand and as I recall it required drilling holes into the hood.
I had the same type on my 97 and it did rub the paint on the bottom of the front lip.
I decided to get a Weathertech this time. Before I permanently attached it, I double-checked to make sure it wouldn't rub. It doesn't rub and no drilling is required.
I asked the guy and he said it attaches under the hood in pre existing holes and it wont rub the paint. Im going to ask to see how it goes on before I pay and install it. Is there something I should look for? I dont want to drill any holes or have it rub the paint off.
My last F150 had a bug shield, and even though it looked nice, it was a pain in the rear to completely remove the bugs from it. Go figure. I'll still probably install one on my new F150 later this fall
