'86 fuel problem
I have an '86 F150 4x4 302. For a while now, the truck would run fine one day, and the next, I could barely keep it running. Sometimes it would get so bad it would kill, and I would be unable to start it again. I would let it sit for a while, come back and it would start right up and run just fine.
I put a new fuel filter in it, and that seemed to fix the problem for a couple of weeks, but now its acting up again, so I can only assume the fuel pump is getting weak?? I'm kind of new to this whole FI concept. There is a fuel pump on the frame, but I'm assuming there must be a pump in each tank as well?? Should I just start with the pump on the frame, or replace all 3 pumps and be done with it? Are there any tricks to dropping the tanks to replace the pumps? I've heard it might be easier to just take the box off and replace the pumps that way. Any info would be apreciated.
