He everyone kinda new to the forums, ok so about a month ago i got an exhaust leak in front of the muffler so i just cut it off before the muffler, and i also changed to the new diamond fire plugs. The problem is that it gets pretty bad mpg's and some times when i stop at a stop light it will hesitate for a couple seconds and than go not sure what it could be. Thanks p.s. its the 5.4 and it has a AFE air intake. its been doing it more often today just when im at a complete stop and go normally if not a little fast it hesitates/stalls what to do....
it doesnt have one in it yet had a bad exhaust leak so i just cut it in front of it. Could it be not enough back pressure, alot of people say back pressure doesnt really do anything but not really sure.
sorry for the double post but is there a minimum length there should be between the muffler and torque converter im kind of thinking of just welding the muffler back on and running it out in front of the tire, might have to cut some off in order to get it to go in that place.
1. Yes, you should probably have some form of muffler on there, just to be legal with many city noise ordinances.
2. I've seen exhaust turn out in front of the rear wheels, basically if there's room for the muffler you can put it there, though many shops will refuse to do so.
3. Your problem with hesitation and everything could be from a lack of backpressure. Is your check engine light on at all, and have you had it read to obtain any codes in the computer? (most autoparts stores will do this for free).
4. Depending on mileage and overall condition of the truck, $6k may be a good deal. I'm not sure though.
