F-150 makeover

I am 14 and my grandpa is giving me his f-150 when I turn 16 so I am starting to save up for some stuff i want to do to it....first of all,I do not have anyone in my family that is anything close to a mechanic....all they know how to do is check/change oil, change tires...small stuff...actually i do have an uncle and a cousin that are good with cars and my uncle owns his own shop, but i want to get an idea of what i wanna do to my truck before i start workin on it....now as you can probably guess i am wanting to save as much money as i can on what i want to do....First in the lineup, since i hunt ALOT and my grandpa's truck gets stuck every huntin season, and i mean EVERY huntin season,i want to get some good tires that are gonna help me with that probalem.second,i want to lift my truck a few inches and be able to put bigger tires on my truck,i have heard of liftin ur truck with wood blocks or the 3-hockey-pucks but i dont even know the anatomy of a truck so i wouldnt knwo where to put them or how to make them lift ur truck...lol......now,i will probably try to do all of this stuff with my cuzin lane who is a truck/car finatic, but i have no idea where to start...my uncle definitely has all the equipment though....therefore i can save alot of money, but i have no idea if i am even up to it,but i would like to save some moola since this is my first truck.....any ways to save money,or do-it-urself-tips would be much appreciated from a young kid ....thanks!
woops, also i wanted to do some camo trim and camo seat covers...

you got a lot of questions in on this one.first off i would spend as much time as possible around your uncles shop to learn how to wrench. offer to work for free or aprentice. it will be worth. or see if your school ,or an after school progam near you, has a auto shop class. that is where i learned a ton. as far as a lift and tires DONT do hockey pucks. if you want a cheap lift to fit bigger tires put a level kit in the front and add a leaf in the rear. I believe you can fit 35" tires that way. and the camo you can get from cabelas pretty cheap.good luck kid

Do a search for leveling kit in this forum and you'll find a ton of results. AutoSpring makes a leveling kit that is relatively easy to install and I believe with the 2.5" kit you can clear 35's (assuming the truck is a 4x4?). It's also relatively cheap, around 80 bucks on Ebay. Definitely stay away from hockey pucks or wood blocks to do it though.

aggressive tires like an all-terrain or mud tire will help but at the end of the day your truck is still a 2x4. plan on buying a tow strap and come-along to throw in the bed because you will still get stuck. it may happen faster with more aggressive tires.you will dig those holes faster.
