Master cylinder

Why would the brake fluid be pushed out of the master cylnder from the front of cylinder which is for the rear brakes between cover and mastercylinder?

Brake fluid leak

rdweathers, the only thing I can think is that the cover was not aligned right and left a small gap for the fluid to escape from or possibly a small piece of dirt or grit between the seal and the master cylinder allowing a small amount of fluid to leak out when you brake. You did not say how much fluid you were losing and the time it took to lose it.That's all I got.

It is a small amount. It did the same thing before i replaced the master cylinder, but a lot more. I have also replaced the front calipers and flexible brake hoses. I need to get the rotors turned due to when braking hard there is a grab-release feeling, would this pulsating when braking cause this? I do not feel the pedal moving back and forth when braking.

I have noticed that lately the cast iron rim on most master cylinders for our trucks seem to be really rough. Years ago I don't remember them being this rough. The last two I have bought, I turned them on it's side, clamped in a vise and filed the rim until it was semi-smooth and made a good seal with the rubber gasket before I installed it. It needs a good seal or it can absorb moisture.
