Help 2000 7.3 wont start

I installed a HT starter changed the oil and now it wont start. Cranks like a SOB with that new starter but just wont fire over.

Any suggestions. Started before I put the new starter on.

My 1st thought would be the new starter is rotating backwards from the old one.. But that is impossible, I would guess. That is a wried one !!

Weird it is.
Back track all the wires you disturb during re-installation.

If it started before you did the swap, we'll need more info on how it died, what you've done and checked so far, and things like that. Have you pulled the chip or swapped the CPS yet?

The High Torque starter will draw a lot more current to spin the motor. My guess would be that with the heavier load on the batteries, the voltage is dropping down to a point where the injectors wont fire. Do you have a way to measure the voltage while cranking the motor?

After sleeping on it that is what I am assuming to. Not enough voltage. The problem I am having is the truck has always had a hard start issue since I've owned it and I am trying to narrow thigns down. Just don't know where to start really. It has new GPR and Gp fresh batteries and it is still hard to start. What should I look at next?

Thanks for the help this problem is driving me crazy.

Do you have a voltmeter?
Does the motor smoke when starting?
What color is the smoke?
What kind of oil are you using?
Is the HPOP full of oil?
Do have a "code" reader?
Are all the battery connections clean and tight?
When was the fuel filter changed?
What outside temps are we talking about?
Does it start okay when motor is warm?

ok been a day or so so here goes:

Yes I have a voltmeter.
No smoke
rotella T 15w-40
No code reader
Hpop is full
motor warm starts alright
I had to crank 3 times to get it to start at 50 degrees
Connections are clean and good
changed fuel filter as well

So I took my batteries to Auto Zone had them tested one was ok one was low. Charging the low one up. Alternator tested fine as well.

Any more suggestions?
