Well people, I'm looking at an '01 Lariet crew cab f-350 single rear wheel with an A/T and 145,000 miles, my question is the tranny seemed to shift a little hard into o/d or maybe quick is the word I'm looking for, I hit 45 or 50 mph or so, it seemed like a solid lock up. I'm just wondering if that's normal. I like the six speed and all, but my knee don't anymore and the wife don't care for it either. Soooo... the '99 is going up for sale.. and I get to start the mods all over again.
Well from 1 to 10 how hard does it shift?
My truck shifts into od normally around 39-45 mph and when it does it can be fairly rough at times but it may be related to the edge i have.
my '01 F-250 Crewcab tranny went South at 108,000.... It was having a lot of trouble shifting from 2nd to 3rd.... Ended up buying a BTS-trans... When 'Brian' from BTS tore into my old tranny, he said that the OD was ate-up the worse than any of the rest of the gears....
A transmission flush may help it out... I tried that on mine when it was shifting bad, but it was too late... One day it shifts fine and the next it was gone gone gone.

It sounds like torque converter lock up,not overdrive,I see by your sig.you have a DP-Tuner,I've had mine in about three years,I sent it in for updates and I was talking to Jody and he told me as long as I have had my chip, there was literally thousands of updates that should be applied.Since I got it back in it shifts/runs much better than it did,I'm actually waiting on a response from Jody about tweaking my TC lockup,Maybe you could see if he could lighten it up some, unless it's just time to trade.
From what I remember of my stock transmission, the gear shifts were somewhat soft and mushy compared to when the TC locked up (around 40mph under light throttle). So what you describe sounds about normal. It's been about 100k miles since my original transmission was rebuilt though, so my memory is a bit fuzzy...
