Question I keep forgetting about this.

What is the procedure/products for washing the engine compartment?
I recently went mudding, and well its unbelievibly dirty.

Maybe some simple green and a slight rinse is in order.

can use low pressure water on it, but i would avoid getting too much water on the air filter, GPR, starter solenoid, and the injector connections. i would cover the filter, GPR, and the injector connections with rags and spray it down with a degreaser like simple green. i have used the sprayer at the car wash before too, but don't feed it any pressure, just let it lightly mist. let the degreaser sit for a minute and then very lightly spray it with water. just try like heck to not get too much water all in the electrical connections of everything. i know it seems impossible, but i haven't sprayed mine with anything for a long time. i just keep spraying it with degreaser and wiping everything down with rags. just remember, don't even think about spraying anything under the hood with much pressure. the pressure of a water hose barely turned on or the gun at the car wash when your not touching the trigger is all the pressure you need to use under your hood, the rest is elbow grease.

Wash a COLD or WARM engine,............NOT HOT! And follow the above suggestions re Simple Green, NO HIGH pressure and avoid electrical connections.

Simple Green, Mean Green which ever is available, I've used a pressure washer but on a low pressure setting. Fanned out it doesn't hit harder than a regular garden hose

Phil, just do it and quit worrying about it! Just be gentle, treat her like a lady.

Also, what products are good to use to polish and clean corrosion off of aluminum rims?

Someone told me Simple green is highly corrosive too and that's why we stopped using it on aircraft.
Just a thought is all.
