So I've been slowly gathering stuff for my project this summer (76 150 4x4) and all of the trim on the bottom is missing, so there is a bunch of holes there.
If I choose not to replace this trim, which I'm likely not, I'll have to weld each hole shut and grind it down so it can be prepped for paint. However, I've seen pictures of fords that have what looks to be just a chrome plate down there, which looks ok. And considering for a new set of that trim is around $600, that might be a nice alternative. Anyone know what I'm talking about there?
So what do you guys think, just replace the trim, fill in the holes via welding, or find that chrome stuff I was talking about above?
I'm not a big fan of the factory lower trim, so I'm leaning to the latter two. One of which is going to be far more work than the other.
If you are talking about the rocker panel trim which I think you are, LMC sells the chrome stick on pieces for 130 bucks for the kit.
If you are repainting your truck anyways Id just weld up the holes. If you dont need it painted I guess Id buy this kit to cover the holes.

Yeah, the whole truck is going to be repainted. I was just trying to be lazy and get away with not having to weld up those million holes, you know? Oh well. *puts on welding helmet*

I kinda like the rocker panel trim myself, I dont care for the chrome replacement stuff. If it was me I'd use the factory stuff or nothing.
Mine has all these little "tabs" that stick out for the trim clips to snap on to. I just ground them off of mine and welded the other holes shut but if I were to put that rocker trim on later would I still be able to? I would imagine the new trim has a little better mounting method.

Are you talking about the chrome stick on stuff? If not, all the oem style stuff I've seen bolts up the same as the oem. (holes with tabs)
