Drop the driveshaft, take the big @$$ nut offout of the center of the yoke and remove it may need to tap it with a dead blow hammer to get it off then pop the old seal out and put the new one in.

Thanks for the reply's and advice, that is exactly what I was wanting to hear.
What kind and weight of oil should I use to top it off? Would it be worth while to replace the differential cover w/ one that has fins and offers a little more cooling ability? When I tow I tow heavy ( a 14k Fiver ).
If it's been a while, it would probably be worth it to pop the cover, inspect the gears, & put new oil in. Any of the synthetics will work fine. Remember to add the friction modifer (if the oil doesn't already have it) if you have a limited slip. The new 2008+ rear covers from Ford are nice
and fairly inexpensive (around $60).
