F250 accelerator

2006 f250 w/6.0 diesel drove it approx. 2 miles and it stopped accepting the throttle, pulled over shut it off for a minute, restarted and everything was fine for 1/2 mile, got it turned around and headed back to the house but every 1/2 mile it stopped accepting the throttle. Pulled(coasted) in the drive and the check engine light comes on and I check the codes yes I get the famous P0299 turbo underboost. Pulled the hoses off today to inspect and the turbo vanes look brand new, no binding. put everything back together and just for giggles put the meter back on it and could not get anything, cranked it up, accepted the throttle, took it out for a test drive of 5 miles and it never skipped a beat. I am guessing that when I disconnected the negative cables it let the system reset itself, any other ideas or theories?
