Still working on my 55 and trying to get everything done to get upholstery done. I was wondering where your creative minds have tucked speakers. I don't want to cut up too much of the interior parts if not nessesary.
Thanks for any suggestions.
speakers ????????????? what are those ???????????? is that what i should be calling my headers duals and glasspacks on my 53's flatty ??????????????? that's music to my ears !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Flowmasters and side exaust will be my music too, but sometimes you have to hear a little 50's music while you cruise.
I think I can put two in the kick panels but with a power antenna frenched into the cab corner I don't have room for speakers there. I thought about under the seat???????????????
If it doesnt get flooded out are you coming to Goodguys at LP Field next weekend? I just got back from the Pigeon Forge and the F100 Nationals. If you come to Nashville shoot me an PM later this week I will be there Saturday. My speakers in the 55' are in the kick panel and behind the seat in speaker boxes I bought at the Walmart in Huntingdon. Right now although I have to come with a remount for my radio because I switched over to underdash AC and had to remove my radio. Listened to my MP3 player all the way to Pigeon Forge and back.
Yes I plan on going to LP Field Saturday, if it isn't raining. I will let you know later this week. How was The Nats? Couldn't make it this year. Would like to see pics of the Nats if you have any.
High frequencies are directional, low freqs are omni-directional...put the tweeters in a place that will give you the best imaging (upper dash or A pillars), put the mids in the kick panels, and the bass anywhere it will fit. I like the woofers under the seat. As a rule you should have as much air volume behind the speaker as the volume of air that the speaker will displace. Probably more info than what you wanted but just in case you have some idea of building some fidelity into your sound system...my wife listens to AM talk radio so it's all lost on her...:~)
I carry my speakers in the glove box. It is a small battery powered deal for my iPod. When I want music I put the speaker on the seat, the ipod in the ash tray and play my cruisin tunes. I want to figure out a better spot for my speaker but it has to be removable.
Long range plan is to mount either two speakers in the dash spot or a dual coil speaker in that spot and hook up an amp behind the dash to plug the iPod into, running the cable up into the ash tray.
We used component speakers and put the main's in the kick panels (1/8" ABS) and the tweeters in an original speaker grille. That set up sounds quite good.
I have the lowers on the kick panels, and I made a Stereo Deck withthe upper speakers and radio on it above the windshield. I am planning on putting a sub woofer center under the seat.
