I'm curious about the frame differences in the front of an f150 and f250. Does the f250 have the same crumple zone front frame setup that my f150 has? I'm curious because I'm looking at a front receiver hitch for my truck and they list different ones for f150 and f250/350. The f150 hitch mounts off of brackets welded to the front frame, but the f250/350 hitch shows that it mounts in between the bumper and the frame ends, using the same bolts as the bumper. I know that the bumpers are interchangeable 150 to 250/350 so...couldn't I just use an f250 style receiver hitch? Or is the wavy, crumpled front frame unique to the 150 and not as strong?
TIA
FWIW the hitch would mostly be used for mounting a bike rack or spare tire carrier, with the possibilty of a winch.
Not sure what all the differences are but the 150 has the crumple zone, the 250ies do not.
Also I pretty sure the frame on the 250 is taller, but not sure how if at all that would come into play as far as installing a hitch, I'd have to see the hitch.
I gotta ask, why a trailer hitch on the front of the truck?
