i keep reading SCT is the best bang for the buck, and im itching to order a tuner.
i want to keep it kinda mild. i dont want to be burning up parts, or putting too much extra strain on other parts. but i bought a bigger, heavier trailer and could use a little extra oomph. i dont want to start a cycle of adding things, just because i added this.
the truck currently has the muffler removed and straight piped. sounds sweet.
id probably set it at the lowest setting, which i think is 47HP and 105? Ft pounds of torque.
is $360 shipped the best price? and is that company reputable ?
I would say for an extra 50 bucks or so call up one of the custom tuners and get the SCTx3. The custom tunes are way better than canned tunes from SCT.
I was using Matt at Spartan, but he doesnt do SCTX3 anymore. I use Eric at Innovative now, he is great. I have also started to hear good things from Jody at DP tuner too.
Thats just my .02, and if I were shelling out 360 I would go for the custom tunes for the relatively small increase in price.
Sarge
EDIT: Before you buy any tuner make sure you have guages to monitor engine vitals so you can keep an eye on things.
I absolutely agree with sarge....pay a little extra and order from Eric at Innovative. Great customer service and tuning. You will NOT go wrong. Sometimes the little extra you "save" isn't really a savings at all.
I know it was at the end of my post but I wanted to make sure the OP knows how serious it is to have guages before tuning.
Remeber these trucks blow HG's with a stock tune.
Oh I am not faster at typing I just read it right after the OP posted
You all have a great weekend, gonna take the wife and the dog up to the camp to open up for the season and see how the lake is so I can get my boat in the water and drink some beer.
Concur with the other posters: It would be worth the extra cash for custom tunes. I did use Spartan until I got the latest flash. I now have the 60 tow tune from DP tuner that I use as a daily driver. Jody tweaked the shifting for me; I could not be happier with the response time that he provides. He is top notch and I am enjoying the tune. A lot of people here like innovative; however, DP has all of my business when it comes to tuning.
