OK, in pursuit of the wander and shake I took the beast for front-end alignment. Had new ball joints put in all around and the alignment done pretty much to what the guys here have been saying. Vehicle tracks straight now and a lot of the wobble is gone.
PROBLEM: The steering wheel is about 25 degrees slanted to the right. Just enough to be annoying from my usual driving style.
QUESTION: is there a way for me to get it back to horizontal?
Am waiting on the rotors to be delivered. I had to cancel the Bilsteins as shock warehouse keeps telling me they are back ordered till the end of the month. Been waiting for over a month already; so cancelled the order and ordered Rancho 9000 adjustable's.
Let's hope the new rotors and pads plus the new shocks takes care of the final shimmy.
Yes, there is a way to correct your steering wheel misalignment. Take it back to the shop that did the front end alignment and have them correct it. This is something that should be checked during an alignment.
Everytime I have had an alignment done, the mechanic checks the steering wheel for center during the process.

I was a mechanic helper at a repair shop a few years ago, and every time we did one, we had a spring loaded tool that sat on the drivers seat and kept tension on the steering wheel and locked it in place while the alignment was being done. They probably didn't use it.
Guys - thanks!!! Took the vehicle back and they did it on the spot. No problem. Can't bitch too much at them as they gave me a GREAT price for doing all the ball joints. They also quoted me a great price of 85 bucks for balancing the drive shaft and putting spicer u-joints in. If I don't get the shimmy out with the brakes and shocks....that's the next step.
