carb issues

carb issues

I just replaced the carb on my truck an now it idles and runs really rough. Ive tried everything i can think of and nothing has worked. Any Ideas?

p.s its an edlebrock 600 cfm carb on a 390 any advice is much appreciated thanks

Are you sure that you have capped or used all vacuum ports? Have you adjusted the idle speed and mixture screws? Choke setting? Guys on the site will give you advice.

yeah i have done all that is there anyway it could be the vacuum advance?

It is possible that you are drawing air through a ruptured diaphram in the distributor unit. The Toothless Jake way to check for a problem is to pull the rubber line that goes to the distributor at the carburetor and suck on it. If what you feel is like sucking air through a straw, replace the diaphram. The unit should hold vacuum when you suck.

It sounds like you might be drawing air someplace. Are you sure that there are no open ports on the carb?

You can get a can of starting fluid and spray around your vacuum connections and base gasket. If the engine flares, you have a leak.

Be suspicious of any rubber connections to the carb or manifold. It sounds to me like you are drawing air someplace.

Have you found the idle mixture screws at the base of the carb and do you know how to adjust them?

Yeah, i got the problem fixed it was the vacuum to the distributor thanks for the help
