well, i bit the bullet today and did the down and dirty conversion to 134....
well, i topped it off with 134, i left the remaining r12 in there for the oil reasons, i used a conditioner/lube/and leak sealer......she is blowing ice cold for the moment
hopefully the leak sealer is adequate for the leaks, and she will last the summer, as soon as i have decent time, im going to replace the dryer/condenser/compressor and swap over to propane/butane...... which should let me get down to about a 33* vent temp
just out of curiosity, is the low pressure side over by the radiator cap, or is it the one thats beside the dryer ?
lol, reckon i should have asked that before i charged it up....... my Chilton's book didn't have anything but a small disclaimer note saying leave it to the professionals
WOW! Don't know about propane/butane in a mobile a/c system.
The low side is on the passenger side near the blower motor. High side is near the radiator cap.
lol
nothing says glory hallelujah like a fiery explosion when u hit some grampaw in his hover round and his hip bone goes threw the condenser and the wheel chair sparks off the radiator support
europeans have been using propane for years, in millions of vehicles....believe it or not, propane is less explosive then 134a....go figure...........
propane is colder, has less head pressure, and you use about 1/4th the original amount for a conversion......which is "drop in" btw, no mods needed......AND, its molecules are bigger then r12, so if you had a small leak it wouldn't leak after the conversion....
please don't fall victim to gov lobbyist propaganda BS ....go research it......it might just end up being the "must have" mod of the summer!!!!!!!!!!
lol, what happens when granpa's hip bone goes through the propane fuel tank on over a million state vehicles spread across the country ????

thats what i thought.....the packaging the conversion nipples came in was printed wrong, thats what through me off, i thought they were supposed to be smarter then me ...lol
