84 F150 4X4. got a front pinion seal leaking pretty bad.
Is this something that I can just yank and replace? Or is it one of those with the crush sleeve that is a BEAR to replace and best left to a mechanic, or even the dealer?
Prolly oughta go ahead and pop for the rear too while I am at it.
However, Align mark the shaft and nut, Remove nut and yoke, Replace the seal, install yoke, rubber spline seal, nut and tighten to aligned marks.
For added assurance count the turns of the nut.
If you don't have a spline seal, clean the spline on both pieces oil free, add a little (A LITTLE) Sillycone (RTV) to the yoke end (where the nut goes) of the yoke all the way around the spline about 1/8" in.
