Hey guys my tranny is is finally starting to give me some heck. I'm not sure what's wrong with it but sometimes it slips in overdrive when you lean on it...I dunno I really can't be mad at this thing I've got close to 220,000 on it most of which I've been running the ASE tune while pulling a 5000lb trailer all over the country.. I'm kind of at the crossroad I don't know if I should buy a BTS tranny upgrade for $5500 and never worry about it again, or if I should buy a low mile salvage tranny for $1200 and throw a torque converter in front of it and giver hell. So what I'm asking is do all the 03-07 trans match up or do I need a specific one? Thanks

I would actually suggest a Heavy Duty Suncoast Rebuild kit and get the billet input shaft along with it. However, this depends on how much longer you plan on keeping the truck as well. It depends on if the added costs of the Suncoast or the BTS are going to be worth it to you.
just to throw this out there I just ordered my suncoast kit, with tc, and billet input shaft. labor to install. it is running me $3400. Thats with me doing the R&R the shop is only charging me for the rebuild.
Thanks Tex. Yea I really want a built one I just don't know if I can justify it. I like the Suncoast kit especially since it has a full flow filtration system instead of a bypass. If you don't mind me asking what did that Suncoast kit run? Also did you buy their converter or use your stock one? I'm really impressed with the stock 6.0 converter it's a tough one.
I got the suncoast kit for 1200 and the billet input shaft for 235 and I accutaly went with a different tc it's a billet one for 1085 then 800 to install.
Wow that's not bad at all..hmmm decisions decisions. What brand of TC did you go with. And also have you noticed a huge difference in shifting and or TC lockup?

I'm not sure on the brand. The shop that is doing the work highly recomended it, and they ordered everything so I haven't even asked them yet to be honest. It is not installed yet I just ordered everything last week. And have not had time to remove the trans and take it to them. I will let you know you I get it done what I think about it.
Thanks Scotty...I can't wait to hear how that thing turns out...I think I'm gonna have to do if I can squeak in under $4000. I just want something that will hold together being worked and also not blow up if I tie on to a sled in the work stock class ya know...thanks again keep us posted.
350 pounds i believe i went with a salvage yard tranny i found one out of an 07 with only 13000km on it ive beat the hell out of it for the last 175000km and its never skipped a beat i would love an nadp tranny but i could put 3 stock trannys in for the price of one but i guess if serious hp is what your after it would be better to build one that will last
