Picking up a new truck at the end of the week, new for me anyway. I've been through a few Rangers and S-10's..liked them, but I decided it was time for something bigger.
Got myself a 2004 F150 Heritage extended cab. High miles, but that's my load to bear.
I'm actually asking this question for my dad, who won't let loose of the idea. Someone let onto him that a 302 engine is bad bad bad.
Now we need to know if my truck has a 302 engine.
Frankly, I don't know how to tell and I can't go look at it until Friday, and daddy-o is driving me nuts.

I'd appreciate some help, thanks.
You haven't been able to buy a truck with a 302 since 1996.....so thats a no...
Most everyone I know including me thinks the 302 is a better and more reliable engine than either the 4.6L or 5.4L engines in the Heritage. The 2 valve modular V-8's had a tendency to occassionaly spit spark plugs out when the threads gave out. They also don't have a lot of power and aren't as fuel efficient as the engines they replaced (302 or 351) or were replaced by (3 valve modular).
