Does any one know the Ford part # for the Cam postion sensor on the 2000 7.3. Also is it a diffrent part than the one used on the 97 and earlier 7.3s. I have the P/N for the Internatinal CPS. I can get dealer cost on Ford parts and need the P/N. I also understand that there is a new updated CPS is this good for all 7.3s. Thanks!!!!

For engine serial numbers earlier than 0375549 use part number 1825899C99 and for 0375549 and up use 1825899C93. These are International numbers (the number appears on the part) but you should be able to use the serial number break to find the right part number from Ford. You may still want to check the price from International because Ford's prices are so high that retail from International may actually be less than your price from Ford.

Joe. if you're still around, please clear something up for me. I've heard that the difference between the "early" and "late" cps is the material the electrical contacts are made of, and that the "late" cps will work better on all trucks, regardless of build date. Can you confirm?

The early CPS and terminals in the wiring harness were tin plated and the later ones are both gold plated. I don't know enough about metalurgy to know why the gold plated ones wouldn't do a superior job in either application but I know how expensive it is to stock and catalog 2 part numbers as opposed to 1 and I am assuming that there is therefore some good reason for not mixing and matching the sensors. Maybe someone from the field of electronics can enlighten us on this.
