I recently hit a deer, well, more of turned it inside-out.... Anyway, I get a new westin brushguard, bumper, fender, door, etc. Was wondering what all was included in bumper and grill swap. I really like the 05-07 look and if I gotta get a new bumper anyway, it might as well be what I want. I know the headlights dont fit easily, I would think I need the 05 header panel for that, but I got the clear capsules and turnsignals anyways,
just looking for any quick easy info from somebody that has done this before
You can trim (or butcher) your header panel to make it all fit, or better yet, just spring for an 05 header panel and the grill, headlights and bumper will just be a direct bolt on.
If you want to trim your header panel, dfuser.com has instructions as well as pigtail adapters that are plug and play for your existing wiring. When you look at the instructions, then look at the headlights, you'll think you can get away with trimming less of the header panel. You can't, don't waste your time trying it like I did. Just cut it out as shown.
x2 what Chris said...i cut mine on the fly, and it was a PITA...as for the headlight pigtails, the OEM plugs for mine disconnected from the plugs for the newer headlights behind the header panel...check that first to make sure yours will too instead of just going out and buying the pigtails...i was actually on my way to the stealership when i figured that part out...lol...
were you a redneck and load up the meat...i would have...lol
the grill and headlights are ok, just the bumper got in the way. the brushguard took the brunt of the hit, I was going about 60 and never seen it. Never let off the throttle. The upright support of the brushguard is a little bent from peeling the deer open, then the thing rolled down the side of my truck, filling the fender, both doors and cab corner with dents. The only things are that getting replaced are the bumper and guard. Thought maybe the 05 bumper would be a good way to go, then I would just buy a 05 grill from ebay. There are a few there that are modded to fit the 99-04 trucks.
as for the meat, nah. there was not much left. ever seen those smear jobs after a semi hits one ? Thats what this looked like. Aint never seen something like that be caused by such a small truck.
First thing first you don't need a cut down grill if you use the 05 bumper
I did my bumper for about $600 and another $120for grill.
Just remember those 05 -07 bumpers are 7 pieces when bought aftermarket.
heck with westin brushguard products. Just found out they are now made in china. Gonna get a GO Industries, those are still made in the states.
Hey Jeff, I just noticed and wanted to ask ya'...when are you gonna take some pics of your truck lot there???? Sure would like to see these rigs in your sig...i'm just sayin'...we like pics...
