Hey, I need to replace the Timing Cover on a Ford 1985 Econoline e-250 I took everything off except the "thing" that holds the fan.. coolant was leaking and it was the timing cover it has a hole and i Need to replace all the cover... Help please.
Its a 351 5.0 V-belt.. The timing cover is already off and loose but theres a "thing" don't know the name sorry but its the one that moves all the belts its routed to the main engine. its the best i can explain...
I already took the water pump off. just need to remove that one piece that doesn't allow me to take the timing cover off looking to see if there is a certain special way I tried everything!!
Crank pulley maybe? (AKA harmonic balancer) Remove the center bolt (crank bolt) and get a harmonic balancer pulley (autozone has free loaners)
I'm guessing you're spot there. What threw me for a loop was the part about "Thing that holds the fan"........
Also, when using the balancer puller, be sure to remove the large washer from the bolt, then thread the bolt back into the crank. Otherwise, you're liable to damage the threads inside the crank and will not be able to get the bolt back in.
