I didn't want to hijack DirtMcGit's drive shaft thread but I too have a drive shaft question.
I have read the Sticky in the Technical Information area and understand the problem that the 96 and up Drive shaft has. I haven't found a 4" Aluminum drive shaft to replace mine with but I am expecting it to be a very expensive upgarde.
My question is whether anybody in this forum has tried machining and threading a grease fitting into the slip joint? Is there a reason not to at least try?
over in the diesel superduty forum, we've been putting zerks in for a couple of years now. seems to work well. Careful grease selection and just a couple of pumps, viola, good to go.
