Radiator

What kind of trouble can I look for when I replace my radiator in my '92F150 4.9L. Is this a shade tree job? Any help you all can give me will be appreciated. The trans is an M5OD.

It takes about 5 minutes to drain, pull the shroud & hoses (since you don't have automatic cooling lines), and pull it. The hardest part will be getting the fan clutch off the water pump. It's LH-threaded and uses a LARGE thin wrench that you can usually borrow from the parts store. I made one from an old leaf spring. You don't have to pull the belt, but you should flush the system when you do it. I just warm up the engine (just to the point that the thermostat opens), pull the upper hose from the radiator, stick a garden hose in the radiator going full blast, & let the engine run until it's flowing clear. Refill with plain water & warm up to check for leaks, then drain & add the proper amount of antifreeze (according to the back of the bottle) and top off with water.

It's a simple job. I just pulled the one out of my 1994. Two bolts and two rubber boots, hoses. Like Steve said clean the coolant real good then fill with good antifreeze.
Funny thing I've own my truck since new and it never had a fan shroud. I wonder if this was missed at the factory?
