Since I swapped a Zf5 in place of a c6 in my 96 F350 4x4 460 I have had an idle that is too high. I plugged off the vacuum line that use to run to the vacuum modulator on the C6 to lower the idle but it is still too high. With the C6 my idle was around 750-900RPM depending if I had my a/c on. Now with the ZF the idle is between 1000-1300RPM!! What is causing this?
Ford Fuel Injection Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Do the checks described here. Also spray carb cleaner to look for vacuum leaks (listen for change in engine note as you spray). Maybe clean the IAC valve. Check the throttle linkage for binding, maybe where you removed the kickdown rod.
Hopefully more opinions will follow.
Yeah I'll go around the hoses with some propane or carb cleaner to find a leak. I removed everything very carefully during the swap but there could be something unhooked. The truck ran fine with the C6 in it just a few days ago so I don't imagine it would be a clogged sensor. All other suggestions are welcome just don't get mad at me like Alvin in AZ did if your suggestion is not the correct answer to my problem.
