Carb's

I have a 1966 F100. I thought I had a inline 6 300, but the door plate says I have 150 hp. Isnt a 300 170 hp?
Are the stock carbs on a 66 f100 w/mt 240 and 300 the same?

I have a 1965 F100 with a 240. There are a few variations among the Autolite 1101 carbs offered on the I-6 engines for 1965 and likely for 1966 as well. These mostly pertain to distinctions in anticipated operating conditions (elevation, for instance) which determined the main jet installed and also whether the motor had an automatic or manual transmission behind it. There is no distinction, as far as I know, between the bore and venturi diameters, and the like, that might make a mixture volume difference between the 240 and 300. The Autolite 1101 is considered in many quarters to be a barely adequate carb for these motors. Personally, I like mine just fine, but I haven't run anything else on my truck.

There were other offerings in Ford's complements of motors that used an Autolite 1100 single barrel carb that does have a smaller bore. These were common on cars with smaller in-line sixes and on the econolines with the 170.

The HP/RPM as listed on the Warranty Plate are NET figures.

The engine code is the 4th digit of the VIN.

1966: A = 240 I-6 / B = 300 I-6.
