Is it my battery?
Some Googling reveals that Ford started putting shoulderbelts into the Supercabs around '92 (a rare few VERY late '91s have them apparently). So at this point the hunt goes to being for a '92 or newer Supercab with a full bench in the back (not the jumpseats), 4X4, and although I would have prefered a stick, the wife chimmed in and wanted an automatic (she can't drive a stick, EXACTLY why I wanted one
). The only limiting factor is that I didn't like the "fish" bodystyle in '97 through '03(?). So at this point we had a solid target- '92 to '96 Supercab with 4WD, and something $2500 or less since it was intended as a minor project truck for some "Father and Sons" time (wrenching, fishing off the tailgate, hauling the canoe, etc.). We looked for two months and found nothing that really fIt the bill. So then we considered trading in the Wife's Focus and gettng me a new '10 F150. Went the the stealership found one, thw wife told me to buy it, but new car/truck prices seem outragous to me. That and the newer trucks seem too... I guess luxury is the word? A truck just shouldn't be like a Lincoln Towncar. So eventually I turned back to Craigslist and found the truck pictured above. He was asking $2200 and I got him down to $1800. He had two calls asking to come and see it while we were getting the title notarized, and about the time I'm getting ready to drive it home, the 20-something FedEx kid that was supposed to have come test drive it before me, finally showed up. Around here, trucks run around $2000 for what I bought. You local CL market may vary.
So there you go, that the entire saga, and more than you probably cared to read. Oh, and why only $2500 budget? I sold some stock to buy a 1976 Harley. I know, I know, "1976 is back in the AMF period", but it's also the year I was born and that kind of makes it a thing to me. So anyway, wife talked me out if the bike and into a rat rod two door 40's/50's Ford, so at that point the target changed from a motorcycle to a... (hahaha)
