Unhappy 2002 F250 stalls out at high way speeds

My father bought the truck brand new. Its been babied. Just hit 70,000. Now my poor mother drives the truck to work, and it just stalls out without worning.

The lights stay on. No check engine light. Stalls at ideal or at 65mph, then fires up after 30 seconds. Only code that came up was something the machanic said was something about the fuel circute. But he didnt think much of it. Infact he thought it was just low on oil.

It seems that alot of these trucks have bad ground problems. think that could be the case?

Thanks alot,
Wes

What lights are you talking about that stay on after it stalls? With key on engine off, the check engine light should be on. You say the truck stalls at highway speeds and at idle? Does it just cut off or does it sputter and die? Im not sure if the PCM will cut the engine if theres no oil pressure. I think it might if its overheating. When this happens, what do all the gauges say? Usually the only fuel circuit code I ignore is the Evap purge solenoid or flow sensor, because we dont have to have our vehicles inspected in my town. And that code can be caused by leaving your gas cap off. Anything else should be cause for concern. You can stop by a parts store and get them to hook up the scan tool and print out the code(s). For free. Ground problems would cause it to stall yes. Lets check these other things before you go chasing grounds. Check and see if the check engine light is on when the engine stalls with the key on. Get the codes. Watch the gauges when it stalls too.

Did you ever solve this issue?

My 2004 F250 5.4 is exhibiting the exact same symptoms...the code is P0231 - fuel pump secondary circuit low

I also occasionally get an electrical burning smell from somewhere inside the cab when it stalls.

If you were able to fix this PLEASE post it...it is driving me nuts!!!
