Question PCV Valve

Just a PCV Valve Question...
I decided to change mine, and got a Purolator (PN PV68C). It has the valve and two fittings above the valve (upper is +/-1/4" diameter fitting, lower is +/-4/10" diameter. Looking at my 1990, 5.8L, it uses only one of the fittings (the bigger one). Any idea what the unused fitting is for? The valve came with a cap for the top fitting, any problems with this coming off?

Just thought I would check... Thanks for any help in advance.

I have yet to find or use the second outlet on a PCV valve. Just plug it with the cap and you'll be good. If the cap comes off, then I'd plug it back because it causes an imbalance in the designed use for it. just like putting a hole in a vacuum line that's not hooked to anything...

Just my .02 cents...
Jim

Thats just aftermarket engineers at work. That PCV valve most likely fits a larger variety of trucks/cars than just the Broncos and F-150's. Most likely one of the other vehicles requires the second vaccuum port. Like jims89 said, use the plug they provide and forget about it. The cap that came with the one I bought last was actually a plastic insert that fit inside the upper fitting. Never had any problems with it vacating the premesis.

I've never had it happen, but if you're worried, put a little PVC glue on it.
