9" question
In the course of my engine swap I ended up with a 9" rear end with two filler points. One in the original '61 housing and one in the later model 3rd member(yes, I've got a donor truck with *no* filler point now).
Anyway, there's almost a pint and a half difference in the fill level between the two plugs. I've got it filled to the level on the 3rd member, which is the higher of the two and it's starting to kick oil out of one of the brand new axle seals.
My question is, can I run the later model 3rd member at the lower early model oil level? I was hoping in this way to reduce pressure on the seal.
I've already pulled the vent bolt and checked that it wasn't plugged.
