final thoughts before rebuild

Hi all,

So I am getting around to doing the motor in my 73 F-100 with a 360. I know common thought is to build it up to a 390, but I am satisfied with the 360 as I only use the truck on weekends for projects around the house and work once or twice a week.

#1 I hear 2 schools one says stick with my factory intake and Motorcraft 2100 the other says go to a 600 cfm 4bbl with vacuum secondary, whats your guys thoughts?

#2 outside of the intake the only real mods I was looking at were an RV cam, cloyes gear 9-3108 true roller timing set, and a set of Flowtech 12540flt headers; which I think is a mild enough build to still work nicely with the stock 2100?

Advice and opinions welcome

Unless you are racing, you will find a fuel mileage low rpm torque cam outstanding. I tried the rv cam and was so disappointed, I took it out.

The economy cam made the engine so torquey where we drive rpm wise that it felt like a diesel. No doubt hp at 6000 went down but power and torque at 3000 rpm was monsterous and made truck awesome to drive.

How often do you drive at 6000 rpm? anyway.

you are correct... never. Where I am looking to go is open up the 360 a little and still keep it fairly economical, I have a daily driver that gets 36mpg. The truck is for the little hauling of lumber I do for work and mostly fun. From what i know about the 360 the timing set and headers should do that, was just trying to make sure I was thinking right before dropping the $$ on the parts. Also just trying to make sure the factory 2bbl will get the job done with these small mods and that I didn't need to go to a 4bbl.
