engine noise
Saerch the forums for "flutter" issues.
Look under your truck and see what the Y-pipe looks like. Does it have a necked down part? If so, then pay particular attention to the threads that mention flutter and talk about bending the inspection plate on the transmission.
Could be a heat shield on the exhaust too.
Can you replicate it at idle?
we've answered your post in the superduty forum.
if you don't have any mods to the intake or exhaust or chip .this vehicle should run without
ping or predetonation on quality 87 octane with no problems.
what the other guys are suggesting is correct
chk heat sheilds ,flutter (common exhaust sond form v10 stock exhaust)metal spacer plate between trans and bell housing.
but if using higher octane eliminates it ,there is a problem in the engine controls for your v10.
these trucks run on 87 octane no problems !
I will say towing heavey loads may require
91 or 92 octane but running empty should not cause what your hearing.
