Acid reflux

They were treating me the last couple years for acid reflux. I complained a few times that if felt like more than heart burn. I had x-rays, ecg's and other tests and they kept telling me my heart and lungs were fine. They just kept pushing different pills.

A week ago Thursday I finally had a heart attack and ended up with 2 arteries cleaned and a blocked 3rd one now has a stent in it.

I got home yesterday and feel like a million dollars (Canadian) now. My breathing is freer and easier. I feel ready to tackle the world again. Up here; they yank your license for 4 wks. after you're released.

What I learned: Don't blindly trust the first doctor. You know how your body is feeling better than he does. Next time I'll get a second opinion or push a lot harder for different tests.

If any of you are having recurring chest pains; get it checked out.

Fred

Glad to hear you made it through okay and are recovering well. Same type thing happened to my wife and she's only 45. After that, I decided to go to her cardiologist and have the full battery of tests run on me...EKG, Echo, stress test, etc. Luckily, everything checked out great. I'm right with you on second opinions...always pays to check a little further.

First off.....Best wishes on your recovery and feeling better, Fred.....

Second.....Don't discount the dangers of longtime GERD either. My Dad was treated for that crap for years......Has Barrett's syndrome, and regular checkups to make sure it's not developing into esophogeal cancer or something......which is bad news any way you look at it......

Again. Glad you're feeling better, and here's to a speedy recovery.

boy you sounded like me, a few years ago I was having massive pain under the rib cage and in the stomach and the doctors at the ER were treating me for acid reflex, Gerd, kidney infection and urinary track infection, bladder infection then I was talking to my brother in law at first he thought maybe appendix, and another friend thought hernia well I went to the ER again well it turned out to be my gall bladder and they said they never seen one as bad as mine, it was the size of a zucchini and all infected and was bent inward not outward, so I had that removed and boy I hate eating now cause everything I eat/drink goes right threw me, and 2 months later I was pregnant with my daughter who is healthy the only thing that was wrong when she was born was she had a bilateral cleft lip she had the surgery when she was 6 months old and looking at her now you would not know it only when she cries hard or after she has her sipper cup or bottle, and she is 17 months old now, glad things turned out great for you now,
