Dual Exhaust!

Dual exhaust, where to get it and at what cost? I have seen dual exhaust conversion systems for older broncos and split mufflers only for f-150 pick ups. I want to know where i can find a true dual exhaust kit or a good split muffler cat back system. If anyone knows where to get them i would really like to know. By the way i have a 1996 bronco with a 5.0. As of know i just have a gibson high flo cat back system which is allright and it has a good sound at around 2,500rpm's but i want the look of dual and i want a deep throaty sound. Is there a way to take off one of the cat's to cut down on noise restriction? Im shure this is a popular subject that someone has to know alot about. if you have any info please respond asap.

If you have emission testing in your area you can forget about having a true dual set-up. If you don't have emission testing a local exhaust shop will have to do it (if they will) since there is not a aftermarket true dual setup out there for a 96 Bronco.

As for a pre-fabed system, there are many out there. If you want it louder cut out the cat and weld a pipe in its place. Most exhaust shops will not cut out the cat because of Federal laws.

Whether you are worried about emmissions or not, make certain that the pipes exit behind the rear wheels like the stock single exhaust. If it exits the back of the truck you will have exhaust drawn up into the cabin through the rear window...I mean unless you NEVER run with the rear window down. '96's have even more emissions garbage on them than earlier models. I read in another thread recently that they have as many as three 02 sensors among other gadgets and gismos. Altering exhaust on them has got to be tricky to say the least.

Yep, You definately don't want to route the pipes out the back. I can't go 3 miles down the road with the window cracked even a few inches without getting that silly feeling. When I have the loot I'm rerouting them out the sides. Has anybody heard how the airflow reacts when the top is off w/ pipes that run out the back? Have a good one.
