I am leaking Fuel from infront of my crank case, and I am curious if this is the fuel pump? It sorta sits Behind the Crank and around the Power steering pump. Also there is fuel coming out of a little port infront of the carbourator. Please help. I am new to ford and am trying to get her runningood.
Fuel pump should be on the drivers side of the engine block (V8) and behind the power steering pump as you described. Without a better description of the type of carb one would only be able to assume what is leaking. Try checking for loose fittings or old/cracked hoses. Good luck.
thank you for your reply, i thought this might be the fuel pump, it looks like it is leaking around the top, possibly where the diaphram sits. As far as the carbourator, its a 2 barrel, and where the throttle arm conects, that fitting has four 3/16th bolts that attach to the front of the carb, i took that fitting off thinking i had a bad gasket but there was no gasket at all, i then noticed on this fitting on the bottom between two bolts there is a hole maybe a relief hole? not sure.
The accelerator pump diaphragm is leaking and needs to be replaced. It also looks like someone tried to fix it with sealant (bad idea). Not sure about your other leak without pictures but the area you described is generally where the fuel pump sits.
I am not sure when the last time is was worked on, I got it from a buddy for a 100 bucks and am fixin her up. She runs good though, I just smelled gas the other day and found these two leaks. Is changing out the diaphram a rookie mechanic like my self be able to accomplish? it sounds easy enough.
If your fuel pump is or was leaking, after you replace it....do a complete oil change or the fuel in the oil will eat your main bearings in short order. Ask me how I know.
Its also possible that your accelerator pump leak was running down the side of the block. Just a thought.
Yeah, definitely need new diaphragm at the least. If they jerry-rigged that pump, who knows what else is rigged, might want to consider doing a carb rebuild. Not nearly as bad as I thought it would be, just did mine for first time last week.

You should be able to do it with the carb still on the engine. All you have to do is get a new diaphragm, pop off those 4 bolts and clean the surfaces, install new diaphragm, reinstall bolts. That's it!
