The sway bar is this 1" bended bar that goes from left to right across the back of the engine/transmission unit, right?

There are those thin rods going up from the sway bar. I take it those rubber things have to be replaced too, right. Do this things come in a complete set of 4?

Hey Guys,

Haven't been here in a while and haven't driven the Escape for quite some time. Finally got around to buy the Sway Bar repair kit. I got them at AutoZone for $9.99 a piece. Turnes out that there were Moogs with grease fittings. The rod is twice as thick as the original. Great deal I guess.

However, the bad news is that the noises are still there. What should I look for next?

Thanks,

Ed

Ed, I believe you have the same noise my 2004 v6 has groaning passenger side front. It's getting worse and they couldn't find it at the dealer till i took service guy for a 10 foot ride. They then put it back in the garage and couldn't find anything. He said bring it back in tomorrow, i called and he said they found the trouble. Never would expect he'd say motor mount. It makes the noise from a stop to take off and turns at times as well. They had to order the part which is around $250 itself. It's going in on thurdays so, i'll let you know.

Interesting! I guess there is more than one motor mount. Can you ask for the old parts and paste a picture here?

Thanks,

Ed

Guys,

I noticed for a while now that the front part of the Escape is quite a bit lower (appr. 2") than the rear part. Is that normal or am I on to something here? I also found that the vehicle is slightly rattling when it idles. Maybe the engine mounts? How many are there and where are they located?

Thanks,

Ed

PS: The CV joints are okay and the exhaust pipe mesh is not loose

My Escape also sat lower in the front so I installed new front springs thinking the old ones where worn out 9 yrs. and 150,000 miles. So I measured the ht before and after and there was no differents at all in the ht just a waste of time and $88.oo for the new springs
