So is this post of the month or poster of the month? I'm a little confused, as I just noticed that the poll seems to be for multiple post by a particular person. Just looking for a little clarification on this, thanks.

The guidelines are somewhat fluid Tony, but it can be for either a single post or a combination of posts and/or threads started in the KS chapter forum. At least that is how I understand it. Also, I think some members have been known to bribe other members with food for votes. LOL

Well actually it is post of the month like the title says. Purdy hard to nominate someone if they didn't post in the KS chapter. I take anything in the nominations thread if I can find a post(s) close to what was nominated. Sometimes I think folks are helping me out giving me somethin ta do. No trouble I have the time and enjoy it. So if you like a fellers post you kin nominate it. An ifin ya like all a fellers posts ya kin like wise nominate all of them. I try not to have a lot of rules ta hinder this. The only real problems have been if there were no posts in the month by the nominee or the nominee was not a KS chapter member. Had some trouble with folks understanding that KS Chapter membership is free and different from Club FTE membership (Supporter)

I have limited room in the poll thread so I can't always list every thread or even the full thread name the post accurred in.

Now folks are different and that's why Baskin Robbins made 31 flavors. What some folks like, gag others. Just a fact of life. Back when I was CL I told folks that what I like is folks sharing what happens. The kids who do good ur not in school, job, things around the house, ect... And folks who help others out have a special place.

But I only have one vote and I use that to test and make sure everyone can receive a vote. So my vote really isn't worth much. I have asked folks I know to break a tie but always tell them it is up to them who they choose. Kind of hard to ask someone to just vote for one of the tied folks when they may actually like another best. But I have been known to nominate my share.

Now for the big picture. In the distant past when we had a gtg another CL would buy the person who drove the farthists meal. I wanted to do something different. So I started this to try to get folks to post more. And included 2 prizes for the winner to choose from. Money to be awarded at a gtg so the dinner was more or less free, or a KS chapter t-shirt shipped to the winner in case they were unable to attend a gtg. But that was back when the KS chapter had great folks in the KS chapter from all over the country. Lots of water under the bridge since then. Lots of changes. As long as I'm able and the current CL is agreeable I will continue this.

So if you are reading a post in the KS chapter and a post really helps you out or causes ya ta blow pop out yer nose, or ect...... Ya kin nominate at any time. The nomination thread is pinned to the top and ya kin post to it when ever ya like. I just remind folks about 5 days out so they don't forget.

Thanks again Jack for giving an "official" overview and a great big thankyou for doing this and keeping it going. I think it adds to the chapter and enjoy the friendly competition at the end of the month. I think it also helps keep some great threads going like the "What you did to your truck." and others.

Well this is interesting--- I was always under the impression that Horse breathe stinks so I don't look them in the mouth either. Besides they normally have green stuff in their teeth! -- ha ha.

Thank you for the congratulations guys.

Jack I am going to Donate my POTM prize to the chapter fund.

You can tell the approximate age of a horse by the condition of their teeth. I'm glad nowone other than my dentist and oral hygienist are checking my age by looking in my mouth.

So if someone gives you a horse and the first thing you did was to look in their mouth, what you are doing is seeing how old the horse is. In other words was it a good young gift or an old worn out nag.

Interesting how many sayings we use everyday come from agriculture. Two peas in a pod, don't count your chickens before they hatch, don't buy the cow if the milk is free etc.

Yeah, Del you are right, it does amaze me as well. It also amazes me that the number one topic amongst farmers is weather.. "Nice weather we are having" "reckon we are gonna get some rain?" "turned out cold today" "Sure is HOT!"
Its become the universal small talk for farmers for years, gets the conversations rolling, acknowledges that while you might not have much to say that directly affects the other person, you still are interested in talking to them, and maybe, just maybe there will be further conversation. Seems that all small towns have this process going on, maybe because nothing else happens besides weather.
I had heard that checking the horse mouth(teeth) was the way to tell about how old a horse was, I was just guessing that since Chad was was talking about green stuff in the teeth, and smelling bad, that Chad might have been checking the wrong end of the horse. You know.. the mouth under the tail.
