you can thank dave sponaugle for the instructions i cant take credit for it
On a NA engine, you should be able to remove the IP and all the injection lines as one unit.
Loosen all the nuts on the injection lines at the injectors.
Remove all three wire connectors from the IP.
Remove the throttle cable from the IP fuel lever.
Remove the supply line from the fuel filter to the IP.
Remove the return line from the IP.
Remove the throttle return spring.
Loosen the three nuts holding the IP to the IP drive gear cover.
Remove either the cover plate or the oil fill spout from the front of the IP drive gear cover.
Remove the three 5/16" 12 point bolts that hold the drive gear to the IP drive shaft.
Slide the IP straight back, finish removing the three nuts when you have enough room to turn them off.
Now slide the whole mess straight back while raising the rear of the IP.
It should lift right out.
Thanks guys. we got it running last night. we found a guy that knew what he was doing and we called him and he helpd. now is there a high flow ip to throw more fuel or is it impossiable to make these trucks smoke
all you gotta do it turn up the pressure on that pump. theres a port on the passenger side of the pump. inside theres a allen screw. just turn it one flat and you'll see some smoke.
It's certainly possible to make a whole lot of smoke with an IDI but why would you want to, especially with fuel prices on the rise again and EPA clamping down. You might as well throw dollar bills out the window while you drive.
What for ... to bring the envio ****'s down on us, to waste fuel or just to think you are cool!
Those in the know, know that smoke ain't cool, it's ignorant!
That said, On the right (passenger) side of the IP is a triangle plate, remove it (catching the fuel), turn the motor until you see the allen screw, turn it in ... Go for a ride and be cool ... In ignorant eyes.
If you don't have a pyrometer pray to your favorite god you don't melt it down!
why do you want it to smoke as much as possible.all that sokedoes is give you really poor mileage and high temps.if you want to roll coal everywhere plan on swapping motors all the time.if your looking to just look cool and try to look like a big drag diesel you might be asking advice from the wrong group of guys.these trucks are not going to be big fast drag trucks but they will work hard.they are built to be work horses not speed demons.the most you will get out of and idi will be a little over 300 horse is my guess.
If your gonna play with the fuel screw, for gods sake put in a pyro first. Its not that hard to do, and itll save you from melting holes in your pistons. Im putting one in mine sometime this week and then ill turn the fuel up just a hair. Im N/A, but i get NO smoke under heavy acceleration, so im going to turn up 1 maybe 1.5 flats and see how she feels then. I dont want to lose the pretty good mileage Ive been getting. Considering advancing the timing a little bit. I heard that its supposed to help some with the ULSD that the stations sell today.
