Thanks folks. I looked at the long link on the upgrades and bumping the timing from the bronco forum link. Read about 20 pages of it. I get to the rest in time. Seems like something worth trying. I can change the coil, distributer cap, rotor, plugs and wires myself.
1. How about a 15 dollar timing light off ebay for the timing??
2. Ford racing wires- on the long thread on the upgrades there was some debate or question wether they were still making Ford racing wires for 5.8L? anyone know definatively if I can get those for the 5.8?
Thanks for the replies and the knowledge. Keystonepaul
Ok, so I did the MSD coil pack (8227), MSD cap/rotor (8482), and Ford Racing Plug Wires (M-12259-M301). First, let me say, that if your going to do this, get wires for the lightning, other generic 302/351 wires are too long.
What wasn't expected, was that I feel like I lost a lot of power in the Lower Revs. Is this normal?
I was wondering if maybe I overgapped the plugs and am now getting a weak spark, or maybe a slower spark now that it takes longer to build a charge strong enough to jump the gap. Basically what I'm asking is, "WHAT HAVE I DONE?!!"
well, if you check out the link in my last post, it says that the guy who wrote the article had to swap his taylor 5.0 wires to taylor lightning wires
I got Ford racing wires and they are too long. I looked up the part # I bought, and they fit like every 302 & 351 ever. I think they are generic so they are longer. The lightin wires are just for f150s, so they can be exact
